TMB: Rest Day - Courmayeur

Staying at the very comfortable Hotel Cresta et Duc, Courmayeur provided an excellent location to take a days rest. With hotel sauna, delightful bar and delicious breakfast and evening menus, we felt fully recharged on departure. The town is a beautiful Italian Alpine retreat featuring restaurants, cafes, outdoor equipment specialists and well-being centres. Very well to do with high class amenities and stunning architecture and with above all, the epic backdrop of the Alps and the Dent du Geant.

Situated higher than Chamonix, temperatures here were higher but not uncomfortable, making daily and evening saunters about the town very enjoyable.

As the Mont Blanc Tunnel at 16 km in length links straight through to Chamonix, it’s a convenient point to break the TMB into two sections East and West, in our case we bade farewell to one of our group and welcomed another.
