Setting out from the village of Norton and taking Castle road directly south, following on via Limekiln road and passing Mumbles Baptist Church, the route ascends Langland road to reach the village of Langland. Descending Rotherslade road, quickly brings into view the Bristol Channel and the small cove of Rothslade. The Wales Coast Park is easily picked up here, skirting the low rise buildings and the cove. The concrete path ascends and descends with the help of steps, and in no time the very picturesque Langland Bay with its lovely stone and sand beach, serried ranks of beach huts and surf side amenities swings into view.

Rejoining the coast path which now composed of compressed gravel and concrete makes for a very accessible hike albeit with some steepish short ascents, around to Caswell Bay. Passing under Snapple point and Newton Cliff, the route offers delightful views South across the Channel. Eventually becoming stonier, the path turns into Caswell Bay under Summercliffe point and descends to reach the very welcome Surfside Cafe, home to many dry-robed swimmers and surfers and deserved refreshment. A sturdy concrete terrace provides a wide set of steps down to the beach which at first is stoney, but then leads onto beautiful flat firm sand as the tide recedes.
